SERIES WORK > INSIDE THE MUSEUM

Historically, the twentieth century museum functions as an vital institution to validate the imperial project, and serve as a reminder that colonial histories and scientific thought have been driven by colonial domination and oppression of non-western societies and cultures.

The post-modern era has shaken the foundation of the colonial legacy housed within these walls and the question now begs - how can these institutions continue to be important when their legacy is one that requires dismantling?

A visit to the Royal Ontario Museum to think about this question produced this series. If anything, it serves as a reminder of the ongoing threat to wildlife populations, destruction of ecosystems and at-risk habitats due to human activity.
